About 2 days of on/off design for the main concept. I then worked in the details over a course of 3 days. I spent about 2 hours re-working a lot of the original, though.

That's what it originally looked like. As you can see, I brightened it up, quite a bit. It was overall just too dark. I also sharpened some of the text.

I may have used the same image as you. I took an Amaenaide yo wallpaper and rendered Chitose & Haruka, myself. Brush tool, ftw!

Read various mangas, watch various animes, and do a lot of design work. I also work with manga cleaning, now. In addition to that, I've been doing some anime redrawing.
