The legends [from your noob-li'l-perspective] -
I remember seeing Disciple's premades from F5 and that's the first time I wanted to trash photoshop cos I thought I'd never get there. Then there was Prophet [O MY GAWWD!] and Ovi and Zilla. I loved their skins - the sexiness was too much. There were the skins made by Scorpian and E <3 and Smangii of course.

Well I was on hyperboards before proboards, so Waboab was my idol from HB.
Ovi was probably the turning point for me though. Course, the first time I saw one of his skins was SStudios, on HB. But I loved all his work.
And smangii too.
