More of a curiosity thing - anyone else here use it?

We use it at work, and I freaking love it.  It has its caveats, but it's just too great to ignore.  The fact it's compatible with Java libraries also makes it absolutely phenomenal.

To those not familiar... Scala is a language that runs on the JVM.  It is, for the most part, directly compatible with Java, meaning you can use Java libraries with it.  Its collections library is extremely powerful, letting you write sleek code.

The comparisons I've seen are that one line of Scala code is worth 3-7 of Java.  I've found that to definitely be true.

Never tried it. Is it a functional language (ala Haskell, F#?)
