When you create gradients, banners or icons is it best done so it looks simple, or is it.. done creatively and all hardout-ish? Cuz I keep attempting to do all hardout-ish, and it doesnt look that great. When I look at good templates, its usually quite simple and nice. Any more advice, welcomely accepted.

It depends on the theme for the template. SZv2's gradients are fairly simple, but very nice. The banner is extremely detailed and very nice. But SZv1's banner is extremely simple and very nice also, isn't it?
It just depends on the theme from what I've seen.

When making it, start out with a nice simple gradient. Then add some gloss effects and a light bevel on the top. Like Chris said, depends on the theme.
