Difficulty: Have some of you had the problem when you put a basic effect like glow on a transparent background, and it looks horrible when you save it? Well, I may have the problem. 1) First, let's see what happens when we save a text with outer glow in a GIF format. Make a new image at 100x100 with a transparent background. Type on the background in any font with black. I used arial. 2) Now, let's add an outer glow with Layer>>Layer Styles>>Outer Glow and leave all default exept for Spread at 20 and Size at 20. First, save it as a GIF and see what it looks like: Now, save it as a PNG and see what it looks like: Notice how the effect doesn't mess up in PNG format? A long tut for a simple effect, but many designers may not know this, just a bit of helpful information

Wow, didn't know that *always saves in png format now* But remember kids, older browsers such as IE don't support PNG format. So...*ahem*
