You could just add an extra part to the persons' profile.

Not at all. So long as you aren't displaying your proboard in an iframe, it's perfectly fine. If you are however showing your proboard in an iFrame, it wont work.
But putting an iframe on your forum to display something completely different is fine.

I don't have any ....  I just code the problem when and if I see it. I never thought of doing what you have done.

When the install, I would require a password, which would be required when adding/removing points.

Ye registering externally isn't a bad idea. I guess I could tie into the installation area. Then when modifying points the main admin could have to enter their password. That would stop most (if not all) problems would it not?
