A friend and I started working on this a while ago and I've decided to revive development by 'finishing' it off myself. He's cool with it since he's decided to develop a Splunge open-world adventure-type game.

OVERVIEW

Splunge is an ASCII Roguelike written in C++ using the Libtcod library.
It is set in a series of caves and caverns, filled with all manner of strange beasts and glorious treasure... Splunge is currently in the development phase.

GAMEPLAY

The game is pretty much fully playable now - a decent combat system is still in the works, but for the moment all the basic features are there - items, monsters who chase and attack you etc.

CONTROLS

hjkl: Movement left, down, up and right.
yubn: Movement in the four diagonals.
arrows: Movement in the respective direction.
i: Show inventory.
w: Wield item.
W: Wear item.
T: Takeoff item.
e: Eat item.
d: Drop item.
,: Take item on floor.
q: Quit.
<>: Move up and down staircases.

*Testing Controls/Cheats*
%: Sets your hp to 300.
+-: Move you down and up levels of the dungeon.
G: Genocides the next character you press.

COMPILING

To compile on an operating system other than linux:
* Download the libtcod library.
* Extract the shared libraries for your system and place them in the /splunge/lib folder.
* Compile the source code - see the libtcod docs for details.

Site: splunge.sourceforge.net

Splunge is released under the GNU General Public Licence.

Personify a bunch of inanimate working-desk objects playing poker.

(IE: The stapler folds as the pair of scissors smiles at his 'secret' royal flush or something...)

Heh, our school works a bit differently... you have to take at least 7 subjects for the last three years of school, all of which are examined on at the end... I take an eight subject and am writing an extra exam too. (APMaths and Maths Paper 3) There aren't many AP courses here... in fact, APMaths is the only one my school offers.

...but at the end of the year I'll have about 4 Maths exams, 3 English ones, 3 Second Language ones, 2 Information Technology, 1 Life Orientation, 1 Physics, 1 Chemistry, 3 Music and the music practical.

I'll also be self-studying for the SATs and A levels I'm going to write this year. (For applications to the US and UK respectively.)

Busy busy, but not really. Most of it is really basic and the IT course only covers HTML, Java, MySQL and general Database usage.

Again, he's not the most original in content. He was the first to create a complete fictional world that compiled a lot of fantasy into one universe, but (aside from history) a lot of the core elements are taken from folklore and/or history. (in fact, elves, orcs, dwarfs, dragons, regicide, betrayal, etc. are all from folklore and history throughout the ages)

I'm not bashing tolkien. He WAS the father of the modern fantasy genre, but not because of his originality but because of his ingenuity. The way he took fantasy and utilized it in his very VERY complete universe was what jump-started the whole fantasy novel craze.

I spoke to a couple of my apple friends a couple days ago...

"128GB at last! I almost finished what I have and was trying to keep everything to a minimum."

As for me, not a fan of apple here at all, so meh.

hardmodded mine with a 240 GB SSD

Doing it right! *thumbs up*

I tried this once a long time ago... but kinda gave up after my 'check EVERY detail' tendency caused me to bore myself into oblivion. I might start it up again in the future, when I have more time.

NEVER TRUST A MAN IN A BOW TIE. Never.

Nah this is sorta funny because the guys that got me into Bow Ties are all in my government club...and you also cannot trust politicians

Oh, how I agree with both of the above ever so thoroughly. :P

I have no idea how I so blatantly failed at typing... I've recently adopted a different sleeping cycle, so I'll blame it on that...

...but it was rather lul-zy.
