Let's just say not the God one. It's old, it never ends well, and the arguments are always the same.

Let's just say not the God one. It's old, it never ends well, and the arguments are always the same. Good points. The only reason I suggested it is because it's guaranteed to have activity. Never have I seen someone say, "God isn't real," without some form of backlash. Perhaps not the right word, but it's definitely something that tends to be...uh..."popular".

I just figured most of use are friends and know each other well, so it wouldn't be such an issue. Not that I'm petitioning to have this debate, I'm just saying I wouldn't have suggested it anywhere else (unless it was a forum I didn't care about at all and wanted a flame war for the lulz),

Is it serious debates only? I mean, could there be stuff like "Mac vs PC" ? That's just purely an example, don't add. But I think you get what I mean. Not something that's too stupid, but not too serious either. Someone here should know what I mean

We could do less heated debate subjects, sure.

"Star Trek or Star Wars" is currently a suggested debate topic, so I think so. I actually blindly copy pasted the list into my post. Even still, I think we can have some input from the members as to what they want to debate, so as long as it's a serious suggestion, it shouldn't necessarily have to be a "serious" debate. Maybe people want something more lighthearted. Recently, I got into a great debate (honestly, great) about who would win between Godzilla Jr. and The Jolly Green Giant.

Not that I'm petitioning to have this debate, I'm just saying I wouldn't have suggested it anywhere else (unless it was a forum I didn't care about at all and wanted a flame war for the lulz), Yeah, but the arguments won't change. Atheist view will be pure scientific, logical and follow in that manner. That which hasn't been seen doesn't exist, so on... Religious/spiritual view is an argument of faith, belief and thinking outside of the scientific box. For atheists, if it's not within the box, then it's not accepted.

Right, but as long as everyone remains mature about it, it can still be an intellectual workout, so to speak, and can still be fun. I doubt anyone in these debates are engaging in them with the plan on converting someone to their viewpoint. That'd be great, but it'd be a lot less fun.

Suggestions, suggestions... Hmm -- evolution? It wouldn't be quite as touchy a topic as God in general or religion, I don't think, but it would be interesting as I've been dying to see this somewhere. I've never seen an evolutionist go over the facts and prove that the universe could in fact be billions of years old, whereas I've met people (mostly Christians, since I am a Christian and don't come into much direct contact with people of other religions who are willing to get into it) who are able to debate against it. I'd like to see this and perhaps take part in it, as it's something based almost purely on science. Just a thought. It would probably lead back to religion anyway, though...:/
