Using what I define as bragging, I've snooped around using my acute skills and discovered this line most intriguing, '[10:20] XuzI: I walk around with knives all the itme'
That, my dear Watson, is bragging. Brag, coming from the same origin as boastful, meaning 'exhibiting self-importance'.
Case closed.

My opinion is all it is. People make of it, what they will.

The worst I can do to you with a buck is give you a paper cut. Let's not juxtapose two wildly different things.

OK, let me explain. Xuzi cropped up in an IM window the other night bragging about his knives. I told him what I thought and that stronger legislation should be put in place, yadder, yadder. To avoid argument, I signed off. Now, I've seen some fucked up shit in my life time, the kind that would make /b/ curl up in a ball. You know, stabbings, gang culture, and pretty much seeing people after they've been shredded (yes, a literal term). It annoyed me that Xuzi thought that carrying knives is cool, and so fourth. That was the end of it. However Xuzi has now created an open thread, seeking justification and to further annoy me.
I'll lay my cards on the table, shall I? Unless you can look some one in the eye, and bring yourself to actually slit their carotid artery in self defense and feel nothing, no remorse, can you be prepared to carry a knife for "protection", which I assume is your validating tag line.
Or you could put all this energy to use, and learn to disarm an opponent, and disable him without a knife. I mean, if you actually wanna discus this as a Hobey, rather than a statement, by all means. I'm a blade enthusiast myself, so you're in good company there. Just check the attitude. That's all Given the history, your response makes a lot more sense. I can definitely understand and respect why you feel the way you do about knives. But that alone wouldn't make me change my mind about carrying one, simply because I would never use it on someone. Sure, people kill people. But you can't say that weapons don't have a huge part in that process. IMO, the only knife that could be potentially useful to have around is that of a Swiss Army Knife. You really shouldn't need anything else. Eh, sometimes I'll carry both on me. Swiss is useful for a lot of things, but if I have to cut through something, I want a locking blade. My Opinion: Even though knives are considered "a weapon" to some, they are also used for useful things besides killing and hurting. Have I ever used a knife to kill or hurt anyone? No. Will I? Not unless a thief breaks in and points a gun at my face. I then have a RIGHT to defend myself. Knife to a gun fight? Rookie. The worst I can do to you with a buck is give you a paper cut. Let's not juxtapose two wildly different things. KA-BAR "for the win".

simply because I would never use it on someone. Have I ever used a knife to kill or hurt anyone? No. I have never once wanted a knife for any violent use. Unless the other 100 - 4.27866809 × 10 -10% of the world thinks that, it doesn't matter. True Story: I accidentally stabbed myself with a pencil, doing a whole lot more damage than I have ever done with a knife. Holy fk did that pencil rip my hand and bleed all over the place. I'd like to go back in time and replace that pencil with a knife. You'd be singing an entirely different tune.

We're talking about us. WE carry knives for use as TOOLS, not WEAPONS. And so do TONS OF OTHER PEOPLE. Only random trailer park faggots and "gangsters" (I use that term loosely) carry knives as weapons (with a few exceptions). No one said that nobody carries them for weapons, but a lot of people don't, us included. But if it makes you feel any better, I'm leaving mine at home today. I'll be in a high school all day, so bringing a knife seems like a bad idea.

Hahaha, you said "faggots". Only we can use that word... lol
But yeah, tools. I carry a knife, usually the same time I carry string.

We're not talking about the rest of the world. I thought the whole point of the argument was that knives are dangerous, people shouldn't be able to use them? The whole point as far as I can see is that a lot of the times people carry and use them for the wrong reasons... often stupid reasons.
