For linux, I'm with Squall and I use gedit.
For windows I use notepad.

Xint. Like notepad, but php highlighting is a nice feature.

i've started to hand code in dreamweaver again... mainly because i always have it open lol

what would be a good coding program that everyone here would recommend? psh, notepad. <3

alot of people say notepad.. but personally when you start out, you find that code highlighting helps you to understand what does what and how things are parsed... therefore php designer or conTEXT are great for beginners.. basically conTEXT is notepad with code highlighting

That's pretty much it. Some people would recommend Notepad++, but me personally, I've never coded outside of Notepad. <3 as CJ said.

yeah... code highlighting... if you want to see the standard hightlighting on your server just change the extention of a script to .phps and it will echo the source code with highlighting like this

I have yet to start coding with PHP but by the looks of things people use lots of different programs i might try Notepad++ infact i think i ve got it on my PC probably use that for my coding
