Because they were overused and abused in codes widely in v3. It caused high amounts of stress on the PB servers and also prevented them from getting revenue because the Google ads weren't visible on the iframe pages. (They were hidden iframes.)

Sorry. I thought you knew it was only to ProBoards pages that it was an issue. They're designed to break out of iframes.

Not at all. So long as you aren't displaying your proboard in an iframe, it's perfectly fine. If you are however showing your proboard in an iFrame, it wont work.
But putting an iframe on your forum to display something completely different is fine.

Note: If you tried to do put a ProBoards in an iframe on a ProBoards, it'd create an infinite loop of redirects, so do NOT do it.

As long as you don't put a ProBoards page in the iframe, yes you may.

It depends on what the code does. In most cases they'd be so simple that it'd be a no... but it can't hurt to try if you think it'd help quite a few people.

While this is true, loading PB in an iFrame also creates problems with login cookies.
