I'll try and keep this short and brief for the two people reading this later. TGS '06 is here, and I guess it's the biggest game show now that E3 is gone. Microsoft and Sony led the show with the 360 and PS3 respectively, although there were games for literally every current- and next-gen system shown (since there 573 games on show, which was a new record). Sony and Microsoft's speeches weren't really anything too interesting. As expected, they kept talking about their consoles and why theirs was better, etc. No new details were really given. Microsoft has some Japanese RPG's planned, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, Eternal Sonata, and Lost Oddysey, in an attempt to gain at least some marketshare in the Japan. Along with Enchanted Arms, this is probably the most amount of JRPG's Microsoft has had on a system (although EA will later debut on the PS3, as well). There were some features discussed, such as a GPS system for the PSP and the upcoming HD-DVD drive from Microsoft, but like I said before, nothing too interesting. Sony did lower the price of the 20 GB PS3 in Japan to 49,980 yen (a U.S. equivalent of $429), which was a positive note, but now they're actually charging people to play at demo kiosks in retail stores as if it were an arcade. Luckily, the core unit will now have an HDMI port (the cable is still sold separately, though). The games, however, made a big impact on the show. Resistance: Fall of Man, DMC4, White Knight Story, MotorStorm, Gears of War, Lair, Crysis, Heavenly Sword, Mass Effect, and much, much more (just listing the heavy hitters and a couple I found interesting). If there's one thing you should check out, though, it's the new MGS4 trailer: media.ps3.ign.com/media/714/714044/vids_1.htmlwww.gamespot.com/events/tgs2006/story.html?sid=6158113&pid=926596&tag=topslot;action;3Sweetness. Yeah, I guess I'm done.

I like the pricecut on the PS3. Though, apparently I missed something. Now it has storage on its harddrive? For what? The only things I know that are on the PS3 are different GUI backgrounds. Can games be saved without memory cards now? Are they implementing the music feature like the Xbox has?

I'd imagine sooner or later it'll be everywhere, though. I think the PS3 has had a HDD planned ever since it was announced. It's used to store everything like the Xbox and the 360 (all three next-gen systems have some form of internal storage). Game saves, preferences, whatever. It's still compatible with flash cards, though (well, only the premium one), like the Wii. I don't think they've announced anything about having custom music soundtracks, but I don't see why something like that wouldn't be possible.
