What? Yes, X, Microsoft's annual little expo...with uh, the year tagged on afterwards. This year it was in Barcelona, Spain, and held from 9/27-9/28. Most of the events here were relatively small compared to TGS '06 and Nintendo's unnamed event, but there were still highlights, of course. I'm pretty sure this was announced before, but the separate 360 HD-DVD drive is set to hit stores for 200 U.S.D. sometime in November (no exact date was given) with a remote and a copy of King Kong. Doom will be available on the XLA eventually, Splinter Cell 5 (Conviction) and BioShock will stay exclusive as of now (if you count PC ports as being exclusive), two downloadable game packs were announced for GTA IV after it launches on the 360 this year, and Banjo Kazooie 3 has been declared as a real title. And, believe it or not, a company named Ensemble Studios is working on a Halo RTS, dubbed Halo Wars. Check it out for yourself: www.gamespot.com/events/x06/story.html?sid=6158816&pid=935835&tag=topslot;action;3xbox360.ign.com/articles/736/736044p1.htmlwww.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?link=bungieatx06There was also another untitled project set in the Halo universe announced, developed by Wingnut Interactive and lead by Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh. In addition, as per expectations, there were plenty of games that were either on display, or were talked about in some form. BioShock Mass Effect Gears of War Guitar Hero II Crysis Lost Planet Forza Motorsport 2 Gears of War is still set for its November 7th release date, and with the HD-DVD drive, I guess this is how Microsoft plans to defend the onslaught of two new consoles (other than the rumors of bundles, of course). etc. etc. Pretty much the same stuff as TGS, except for the Microsoft-only headlines mentioned above. I'm gonna sticky this anyway, seeing as how I think it's the last gaming show for a while.
