I was gonna put "first impressions inside" but that sounds pretty lame. Anyway, went to a friend's house yesterday who got one on launch day and got to try the thing out.
First thing I noticed was how small the thing was. Nintendo wasn't kidding when they said three DVD cases. It was shiny and glossy and pretty smexy. I have to say it looks a lot better in the vertical position than horizontal, 'cause the stand makes it have that sleek slope and everything. The blue light you always see in commercials and pics isn't always on, though. Only when you put in a game or have some update/message waiting for you.
The Wii remote is also really tiny. All the pictures make it look huge, but the thing is so small. Luckily, it's pretty comfortable. The A button and B trigger all feel relatively good.
The nunchuk is also pretty small, but there's not much to it. It also has motion-sensing capabilities like I'm sure most of you know, and it has the analog stick, and has the C and Z buttons/triggers where your fingers go. The analog stick feels pretty good. Not sure if it's better than the GCN one, I'll have to compare them again. I did wish that the C button was a trigger like Z instead of a button. It feels a little too small and weird with Z right below it.
Anyway, tried out Wii Sports first. I never imagined a tech demo would be so fun. Tennis was awesome, and the rumble is just right in the Wii remote, as are the sounds coming from the speaker there, too. I was owning bitches in tennis pretty quickly.
Baseball is pretty fun, too. You can throw different pitches but you bat the same way all the time. Kind of basic but fun with friends.
Bowling was awesome, probably the best one there. Really the most addictive.
Golf was all right. Not all too exciting after you shoot a few holes. Seems more like a single-player thing than a party game.
Boxing has the most potential to be like the best game ever, but unfortunately the controls aren't really that responsive. If you punch too much it won't sense all the jabs you're doing, and sometimes you end up throwing different punches than what you wanted. Dodging is pretty fluid, though, as are the slow-mo effects. There's got to be some boxing game just waiting to be in the works that could really take potential of the controllers. Overall, tennis, baseball, and bowling I could definitely come back to, with golf and boxing every now and again.
I didn't really have time to browse through the Wii Channels and the Mii features, so I can't say how those were. The only game my friend had was Red Steel.
I only played five minutes, but damn are the controls hard to get used to. Not fluid like you'd expect. From what I've played, it sucks really bad, but apparently the controls take getting used to from what he said, and I've read that across reviews everywhere, so I might give it a second chance considering I only played it for like 10 minutes. The graphics are pretty good...the screenshots make them look like crap, but it's not bad at all. Still, here's hoping to Red Steel 2 having quick turns and not a huge aiming box for better and tighter controls.
Someone else came over and brought Zelda, but we had other plans and never got around to it, which was disappointing. =/
Anyway, I want a Wii now, but don't have enough cash, so I might just ask for it as a Christmas present. But I needs mah zeldas now =O
Any questions, comments, etc., put 'em here, and I'll answer/respond.

I'm really looking forward to the Wii, now. I'm sure I'll get used to the Red Steel controls, too, although I won't be getting that on release. Gotta wait until Christmas for that. The only game I'm getting on release is Zelda. Oh, if you're confused, I live in the UK, so we won't be getting the Wii until next Friday. Really looking forward to it.

Played some more Wii Sports on Saturday. Boxing's better with two human players, but it was obviously rushed and doesn't get better. The other four were still a blast to play. I can see this getting really boring as a single player game, though. Luckily it's for free (technically), and is great for multiplayer.
More importantly, though, I finally tried Zelda. Unfortunately, it wasn't for very long either. Overall, much, much better than Red Steel, but that's to be expected. One thing I was hoping to get down was how to do different sword combos, if possible, but I didn't. I also didn't fight any enemies as Link since I was trapped in an area that lead to me transforming into the wolf part.
I didn't try out that many parts for either regular of wolf Link since the save point my friend had wasn't very hard, and 'cause everyone else who played the game wouldn't bother explaining jack to me. The game also looked kinda weird compared to all the trailers and stuff I've seen, but it may have been 'cause the TV was/wasn't in widescreen, I don't know.
Two points, though: you can now run and swing your sword, and I'm still amused by the sound effects when you lock on to five targets with the boomerang. Oh, and doing a spin attack with the nunchuk is pretty cool. So that's three points. Hopefully I can get this soon.

I played Wii Golf (a friend of mine got a Wii). Golf's not that interesting, but it was still fun trying to figure out the easiest (laziest) way to swing. By that, I mean we tried to find out how we could swing without standing up and with minimum arm movement. I perfected it to a simple flick of the wrist.

By that, I mean we tried to find out how we could swing without standing up and with minimum arm movement. I perfected it to a simple flick of the wrist. That's weak. You play Wii Sports like that and you're gonna end up like the guys on GameSpot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfBrPCWb9pgwww.youtube.com/watch?v=rLLv1kZC9jgWell...golf's a little different for actually playing like real golf, especially for putts, which you have to flick really lightly. There you have to just do whatever you can to get it in. And after playing Wii Sports like ten times already, I can safely say bowling is the best. Everything else gets stale after a play or two except that. Baseball could have been good but splitters are too cheap (or whatever it is when it hits the ground before it reaches the plate). Oh yeah, I also tried Call of Duty 3. Much better control than Red Steel, but nothing spectacular. Plus no multiplayer kinda blows. Kinda funny since the friend I know who got one pretty much plays FPS's so he's screwed. Until MP3 comes out or something.

Today, I got to try out the new Ray Man game and it was pretty fun, but hard. Same goes for that truck game. That one's really fast and really hard to get used to, but tons of fun.

Bowling's very fun. I'm not too great at it, though. Hmm ... Rayman: Raving Rabbids wasn't too much of a challenge for me. Only took me about 8 hours and I'd finished it. It's alright on mutil-player, but not great. I was rather annoyed about that. I thought the multi-player modes would be great, but they're not really. No real replay value, either. Oh well ...

I've really gotten into Excite Truck. Some of the levels get crazy hard, especially on things like Very Hard difficulty. ._.

Hm, haven't tried Excite Truck, but I kinda want to.
Anyway, a while ago I played the Wii version of DBZ:BT2. I didn't fully learn the controls, but after you get used to them it's really fun to play even if you've played through all of story mode on the PS2 version. Dashing sideways was awkward, though.
Of course, I have no idea if I'll get a Wii anytime soon, so I think I might just go with the PS2 version. I want more play time with Zelda, but that's a different story.

The Wii is quite fun. I did hear Red Steel sucked.
The new Zelda game is awsome onit and the controls are very nice in that game.
As said already, the bowling for Wii Sports is the best out of them all. Ive played it like what...300 times lol.
Only got a perfect score once though.
