It's kind of pathetic that you assume that everyone's life revolves around this forum and that any action they may or may not do is based around getting 'cookie points' from an admin. Did it ever occur to you that some of us communicate outside of this message board? Seriously, most of us are somewhat older and don't have enough time on our hands to worry about that stupid kind of shit.
And as far as all you assholes who are sitting here attacking Kay, shut the hell up. Maybe she didn't want to get into a pointless debate with a bunch of people who won't change their opinion anyways. When I saw Kay's post, I read it and thought "Okay, she's voting for Obama; next." Really, this thread is just a poll and all Kay has done is show where one of the votes came from. She is not and has never been required to do more than that.
And as far as you "
wan[ting]" to see reasons from her, as far as I can see, she has no reason to. All that has happened so far is she has been attacked and called ignorant. I suppose a good way to show someone that you care what about their opinion is to call them ignorant.
As far as your ridiculous (logical) reasons.
1. Aha, ha, hahahahaha. Perhaps, and I stress, perhaps, he may have had a chance to do this before he chose Palin as his vice. Well, now, good luck.
2. Hardly an issue right now. And I like how you say he will work with both parties. Seriously, if a president wants to get anything passed they either need a matching party Congress or to work with both parties. Even still, it's not exactly like the president is the one writing the bills, so it really doesn't matter anyways.
3. Or to change his mind when he's running for president, clearly. Many of his once "staunch" views have since changed as he has begun vying for the presidency. And to follow in Katie Couric's steps, "specific examples"?
4. What exactly does a pollution tax have to do with upstarts and favored corporations? Even further, how the hell are you tying the spread of democracy to this?
Now if you meant to say "and" instead of "which," then I still think you're an idiot. Having favored corporations is the exact opposite of the supposed Republican "no hands on" policy regarding the economy. Why the hell would you want to shoot down upstarts either? Sounds like a sure plan for economic growth to me.
Spread of democracy? We're not even a democracy, we're a republic, and a fairly easily corruptible one at that. Yes, let's continue to spread our imperfect government.
Now I'm not sure if I'm addressing McCain's points properly, I'm just addressing what you're saying.
5. How the hell is this statement relevant in any way, shape, or form?
6. I disagree a lot here. In fact I've found that very few "political stripes" like him, and that there just so happen to be a lot of people in those stripes.
7. Perhaps experience, but good experience? He has held no executive office to my knowledge. Though some politics carries over, the legislative side is incredibly different from the executive side. Really, there is very little that you can truly do to prepare for a presidency. Also, some of that "experience" has earned him a bad name among both Americans and foreign countries. My workplace is full of people from Europe and Asia, and I have yet to find one that supports McCain or believes that their country would support McCain.
8. Wow, big deal. Everyone has a personal agenda, even in a political party. Also, he doesn't just have to keep Republicans happy, but his constituents as well, which might mean working with Democrats. And as far as whether it hurt him or not, that would only be in the eyes of the right wing Republicans; the rest, for the most part, really don't care that much.
9. He understands this? You do realize that regardless of what either candidate says, taxes will be raised. Simple walk of life. This is one thing they can't be honest about or it will cost them the election. Proof is George Bush Sr. versus guy whose name I forgot. GBS said "Read my lips, no more taxes." Three months into office, guess what, taxes.
Now yes, typically congress (keyword: congress) will lower taxes during an economic drop to encourage spending and increase our GDP, but this one is hardly typical with the whole bailout business. We'll see yet exactly how this plays out.
10. This is standard military code of conduct. Even still, I greatly respect and honor him for this. Many broke it and I can't blame them, so it shows that he must have had an incredibly indomitable willpower to follow through with that command. For this he is an American hero, and I really don't think that anyone should try to take that from him (which many non-party affiliated groups have tried to do).
However, just being an American hero does not make someone well suited for the presidency. It does show some of his character, which I believe is incredibly important in a candidate.
However, his policies seem to follow very little along the lines of someone who went through that experience. To no fault of his own, it seems that he does not equate the economic struggle some people go through to his own struggle. At least aside from when discussing how many houses he has. Although comparing economic struggle to torture is a bit like apples and oranges, a struggle is a struggle. Some people starve themselves to feed their children, and that cannot be looked over. McCain's policies really do not cater to those who go through this situation.
And really, I'm not trying to be a douche. I know I came off rough at the start, but really, you guys attacking Kay is pissing me off. Then you attacking Josh for defending her (assuming it was for sucking up reasons) pissed me off even more. While I might not really talk to Josh, I do talk to Kay now and then.
Edit: Haha, I pretty much missed the whole third page. But regardless, everything still holds through.
