Scientists are claiming to have found large amounts of water on the moon in forms of ice. Does this mean like in Arnold's Total Recall they can create oxygen so people can live on the moon? lol

My God...they've confirmed what they were 99.9% sure of all along. xp

It's the amount of water that's the surprise, really. People just don't like to listen, so when the context changed and this became a popular news bulletin, everyone had their omfg moments. p=

It was just confirmed Thursday/Friday from the "bombing of the moon" test.

As for this... was there ever any doubt? I mean... the moon is likely a piece of the Earth (and another planetoid) that broke off during a collision. I would think that the Moon was pretty much just a smaller Earth without the atmosphere. Having water comes to no surprise from me.

I think it's, as Aaron mentioned, the amount of water that is somewhat surprising, not the existence of water in general.
