Yeah, I heard about this a few hours ago. Was pretty sad about it. He was awesome with Dio (and made one of the most iconic songs of all time, too) and his latest project with Iommi, Heaven & Hell, was spectacular.
He was freaking awesome in Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, too. (If you have not seen the documentary, I am ordering you to go do so now)
Thanks for the great music, Dio. Can't wait to see what kind of sendoff the Gods of Metal give you.

Of course I've seen it. I own the DVD, fool. I never liked Heaven and Hell. I never listened to them, but just the concept of it. Black Sabbath covering Black Sabbath? Yeah...

oO
It's not cover material. It's original.

oO It's not cover material. It's original. Someone told me they covered Ozzy's Sabbath stuff. Either way, it's Black Sabbath with a different name. I just don't see the point.

It's good. That's the point. If they called themselves Sabbath, would you listen to it?

It's good. That's the point. If they called themselves Sabbath, would you listen to it? Sabbath or Black Sabbath? If Black Sabbath, then yes. Because that's what they are. It's not that I'm intentionally avoiding Heaven and Hell. It's just new Sabbath stuff, so I'm automatically not intrigued. Same goes for any band that releases new stuff (Iron Maiden, AC/DC, etc). But I would still give them a try. And I still plan to. I just think the idea of renaming the band is dumb.

They did it because Ozzy had returned to Sabbath at the time and Dio didn't want to take that away from Ozzy after they recorded some new songs for the Best of Dio years album
