As far as RPGs go, I usually prefer if they're set in their own universe. I don't know if you'd consider them past, present, or future. But for games in general, I like the futuristic stuff. Specifically future shooters.

I'm not gonna vote, because I equally love RPGs/Games set in the Dark Ages (especially AU Dark Ages themed with magic and shit, that's the best) but I also really love space-ie, futuristic stuff.
