The contrast between the windowbg and bg1 areas with the main bg colour is overwhelming - which is definitely not what you need.

The colours are ok - i think the orange is a bit much - you need to balance it with more greys in the main body. Cat headings are nice though - but could be better. Link colours are odd - the oil-ish colour doesn't work very well with all the orange surrounding it.

The header/banner needs to be more professionally made and positioned - the logo itself is a rudimentary piece of typography.

Considering this aims to be a design forum, I think you need a skin with a bit more spunk.
