I'm trying to get better at graphics, but the only photoshop version i have in an elements one, and is like, 6 years out of date :P

So, I'm wondering what would be the best program to start out with :)

Thanks ;D

GIMP is free - got tons of features as in Photoshop - so get the hang of it first then move onto Photoshop CS2.

I don't know about for beginners, but the best all together is PSCS2.
Thanks, Kay!

I agree with the others.... PSCS2 is by far the best program.

Out of those, I would go with GIMP just because it is free. If you're going to get Photoshop, get Photoshop. Don't get a watered down version of it

Im going to disagree with CS2 as being the best.
Since most know i use PSP, and i can make some great images, and PSP is just as good as CS2 and other PS programs.
Its all about how much you learn about the tools, and how much you are willing to learn.

Personally, if you have money to blow, i would go with PSP cos it is cheap and is just a good as PS, then if you get to a stage where you can seem to advance, which would be in a few years, move onto CS2, cos i do agree that it can be more powerful, cos the tools and such are better..

But, PSP is just as good as PS, depends what you know about each tool xD

Also if you have no money to blow you could go with Paint.NET which you can get at www.getpaint.net i belive.

Yeah. Either Photoshop, or Paint Shop Pro would be the best ones to get. But like Stinky said, if you're going to get Photoshop, get Photoshop. The other versions of it aren't as good.

Sorry for bumping, but this board is dead, so a boost wouldn't hurt.

I think that the GIMP would be best if you'd like something for free. Or if your willing to pay, then go for PSCS2 or maybe PSP. PSP is cheaper so it's good + it's almost the same as PS.

You know I've been using PS7 since it came out in September of '02 :( I'm a sad sad man, I've yet to try CS or CS2 I hear the features are amazing, I just can't bring myself to drop all the cash on a copy of it when I have my motorcycle and other things to pay for. Any trials of CS2 anyone know of?

edit: sorry for bringing this post back from the dead but i was curious. don't hate ;)
