What one piece of advise (note: it may contain multiple parts) would you give to a troubled child facing mental and/or physical abuse, neglective parents, or any other problem that is becoming more and more common today?

Well my childhood wasn't a very pleasant one. Sadly my most fondest one has to be whenever I was able to get away from my mom and at the time stepfather and go to Seattle and spend time with my then sister-in-law. But now, my brother's married to someone else, and my mom and stepfather divorced. etc.

I could kick your ass for that first bit.

On a serious note: find someone that you can trust and keep them close. Most children facing those kind of troubles tend to push others away in fear that they'll turn on them, or let them down. But they may just be pushing away the one person that can help them. The things they go through causes them to not trust any adult, but what they don't realize is that they're not all the same. There is someone out there that they can confide in. It just takes the courage on the child's part to be able to stand up and ask for the help. Which I know is never easy.
