Has anyone ever painted their 360 before? Anyone have any tips on how to do it? (I've looked at tutorials through Google. I'm wanting personal experiences)

360? Do you mean the X-Box 360?

When posting in the Video Game board... I would think that the Xbox 360 is the only choice...

I think there is a game out that has 360 in it, so I was trying to find out if you meant the game or system. No I have never painted a 360. All I have is the first X-Box and it still looks that same as when I got it.

I painted my first 360 a flat black and used an airbrush to add some flames. The only thing you really need to be careful about is taking it apart. I didn't have the proper tools needed and had to manufacture my own. There are some clips on the back of the case that are a pain in the ass to take apart without fucking things up. A thin piece of strong sheet metal will do wonders with those clips. Other than that, it's really difficult to peel off the tamper-proof sticker by the faceplate, or at least it was when I did it. But i don't think you really care about that since you're painting your 360. I have noticed that for some reason, whenever I use glossy paints (I've painted a few cases since then with more success), they can start to peel or even warp around areas that the console gets hot. Also, since you're going to have the case apart (don't even attempt to do it without removing the innards first. you'll regret it otherwise), you might want to add another fan, do some heatsink mods, whatever.

I have idiots for friends in Florida that did, so don't ask me. I was thinking of them when I posted that. lol.

I was thinking about spraypainting mine red and using a clear spray paint (forget what it's called) to make it shiny. I've read that that is the best. Also planning to stencil in my gamertag on either side of the case and just above the USB ports.
What size fan would you suggest and where would you suggest adding it? Also, could I replace the fans in there right now with quieter ones?
I've been wanting to do this for a while now but I didn't want to void the warranty. My warranty ran out though. lol

I don't remember exactly what it is, but there are fans made specifically to replace the stock ones in the box - and they are MUCH quieter AND run better. You'd have to do some research on that though. =/

Ok. I can do that. lol. I'll talk to James too. He brought a 360 back from the dead (RRoD) so he knows the innards fairly well.
Do you hand paint it or spray paint it? Also, is the washing in the dishwasher really the best option?

My first one ultimately RRoD with no point of return.
I spray painted the black, but then used the airbrush by hand to add the flames.
I wouldn't - one of my friends actually warped his case a little bit because his dish washer had some auto-dry sequence or something. I guess it all depends on the washer though. I hand-washed mine.
I also took a REALLY fine sand paper and lightly went over the case just to create some grooves so the paint would stay applied easier. you couldn't tell because the sand paper was so fine though

Yeah, I was planning on sanding down the entire case. I've read that it is pretty much a necessity.
That is what I was worried about with the dishwasher. I'm thinking I'll just use rubbing alcohol and really scrub it down before I do the painting.
Did you paint the gray part on top and the hard drive, out of curiosity?

Back when I did it there weren't any good guides for taking apart the actual HDD, so it was difficult to paint it, but i ended up hand-painting parts of it.
I also spraypainted the grey plastic mesh.

Airbrushing on it is a good option.
