This thread is aimed at Josh (since he seems like the resident expert on Halo). It seems that people are convinced that Halo 3 is coming out for the PC in 2011 (dunno if it's true), and I was wondering if it was 'all it's cracked up to be' - or is it really just full of 'nade happy noobs?

Halo 3 will never come to the PC. Bungie has said this on countless occasions in their weekly updates. Neither will ODST and, most likely, neither will Reach. They will remain 360 exclusives (along with Wars) forever. Future Bungie games, however, likely will be made for other platforms since that was the whole point of splitting from Microsoft last year (may have been late 2007, so don't quote me on it).

I suppose it's a way of keeping the XBox market(?). It'd be nice. But, then again, there always seems to be risk of problems on cross-platform games. I would imagine that countless players would complain that PC gamers have an unfair advantage with the mouse and all (you'll have to correct me on anything, I have no experience on XBox). Like sniping - I can zero on a guy and nullify him before thinking on a PC, but with those pesky analog sticks it's a different story. "Argh, too far, dammit, too far, not far enough, stand still for the sake of... ..Stupid mothe- -where's a Jeep - I'll show you strafing"
If you see what I mean. I suppose you get used to it though.

Halo 2 PC can't play with Halo 2. They're two different games. So that wouldn't be a problem.
As for the sniping... seriously... sniping in Halo and Gears (not so much in CoD, really) on the 360 is soooo easy. I doubt a guy with a mouse would have much of, if any, advantage on me at all.

But there are aim aids in most console games aren't there?

There was one on the previous Xbox Dashboard but I don't think it is available in NXE. I know I had turned it off. It allowed me more freedom when sniping in Halo.

Could the original Halo and PC work? I remember one of the LAN tournaments we used to run at work had something like that. Dunno if it was a mod or something, I used to take care of MOH, so Halo wasn't my area.

There is a HaloCE (Custom Edition, not Combat Evolved) and a Halo 2 Vista but that is it.

Out of the two PC versions of the Halo games, not one of them could connect to the Xbox version of it.

Out of the two PC versions of the Halo games, not one of them could connect to the Xbox version of it. Which I already said. And as Halo Combat Evolved didn't have Xbox Live at all, it didn't need to be mentioned.

There was something, I'm not sure what, mentioned in a staff meeting, regarding putting a PC head to head with the [then new] XBox. I believe that there were some talks with Halo and some sort of 6 computers v 6 XBoxes.
They were gonna do something that really put both platforms to the 'ultimate test' (I believe the phrase was). There was some sort of interactivity, not gaming, going on for a while, but then project seemed to have been axed after that. Shame really.
I bet I could do something, if there are any emulators out there. I'd like to throw and XBox, a PS3 and a PC into heat together.
"Which will blue screen first? Which will red ring? And which will fail to start?"
I only need a PS3 and an XBox...
Crap, droning on again...

It's not possible to play Halo PC with Halo for the Xbox. Period. They are entirely different games. Not just simple ports. That is why the PC versions of the games took years longer to release after the Xbox versions were released.
And the PS3 will win any stability test against the 360. Without a doubt. Only time PS3 seems to brick is when installing an update inproperly or Sony releases a shitty update (happened Two January's ago, I remember. Thankfully I never update my PS3 right away)

I know they are different, I'm just running ideas, etc. "It'd be cool if..." sort of thing. Probably why the project at the Campus (where I used to work) was abandoned. I can't say anything about the XBox, other that observing a few 'warranty returns', but I've noticed that the PS3 often freezes when switched on for 8 hours... As for the specs of either unit, they seem unavailable. How much RAM do they have? What kind of graphics chip? Both questions, unanswered. I've heard that the 360 has 512MB RAM. But without a unit, I cannot say. Edit: looks like it's 512MB Shared.

Don't leave a console on for that long. You'll overheat it. There's a lot going on in those things. The 360 starts running slow after 6 hours (in fact, they have an option to auto turn it off after 6 hours of inactivity). The PS3 start hiccupping around the same time. Just don't leave them on for that long. You'll burn out the freaking graphics card. And just look them up on Wikipedia. PS3 has 256MB of RAM and 360 has 512MB RAM. But RAM means little to nothing on these machines. It's their processors and Graphic Cards that matter. The PS3 and 360 are about even on processors (though fanboys will claim that the PS3s cell processor is revolutionary, it really hasn't been. It hasn't led to any amazing advancements in gaming like Sony said it would. Of course... Gran Turismo 5 may change that). The 360 is generally claimed victor in the Graphics Card department, even though the 360 has an ATI and PS3 an NVIDIA. But, again, performance wise the PS3 and 360 are about par with each other. Neither has a clear graphical advantage (Again, GT5 may change this), neither has a clear speed advantage. The only thing that the PS3 really and honestly has over the 360 is that it's fail rate isn't above 50% (which is dropping now due to NXE). The only thing that the 360 has over the PS3, in my opinion (this is subjective, not objective), is the game library.

Ah, that clarifies a lot, thanks, Josh (karma for you...).
It looks like more of a console/brand loyalty thing, would you agree?
Can I ask the ultimate question? XBox vs PS3 vs PC (current spec. (gaming standard))?
