Ok, so a quick story first. I dropped a can of pop on my Macbook yesterday and was pretty confident I had fried it (when a screen that should be totally gray, the Apple bootup screen, is showing blocks of color, something is messed up) but I managed to fix it after tearing it apart. lol
Now... what I want to know is this. What does everyone refer to pop/soda as? I know people around here call it pop or by what they want specifically (Coke/Sierra Mist/Mountain Dew/etc) and people down south call it Cola regardless if it is cola or not. So what do you refer to it as?

I've always called it soda because that's what it was called on base regardless of where we were at.

I call it pop. I hate it when people call it "Coke" seeing as that's a specific brand and type, but I guess I don't mind Kleenex and Jell-O, so I can't complain too much. Also, I'm from Minnesota, so if I say soda, it sounds overly Minnesotan. Soooooda.

I say soda, or when I need a caffeine boost, it becomes "THAT FRICKIN' CAN!" I sometimes say Ginger, it's Scottish slang. I'm not Scottish, but my neighbor is, and I suppose I got it off him. I seem to always sway to more American terms for things, always have, so; yeah soda.

Soda or pop. Though it really depends on if I'm talking about a can (soda) or a two litter (pop).

Pop. I keep getting shit out here in MA for calling it pop instead of soda. and I just ignore them. Spear them. They'll stop pretty quick, I bet. Everyone I know calls it 'pop', but I just can't do it. I can only refer to it as 'pop' when talking about empty cans/bottles and returning them (since Michigan has a $0.10 refund on each).

Pop, most of the time. I have caught myself calling it soda if I've heard someone else do so. It's just weird.
