Does anyone else have the same problem I have? I'll give an example. Tonight, I want to see a movie. Not with just anyone. There's a couple close friends I'd like to see it with, or some friends who I don't see often, or a girl I kinda like. I don't care which of them accepts, if it's one of them or all of them. Fact of the matter is, I want to see a movie with these people in mind. But then I want to announce it via a status update (something like "Tyler wants to see a movie tonight with some people.") Problem is, I have a few of those desperate friends who will do anything to hang out with people and invite themselves to things without being invited and get pissed if you say no. Well, what am I supposed to do? I don't ALWAYS want to hang out with you, believe it or not. So now I find it hard to ever publicize my outings without SOMEONE chiming in to join me when I haven't invited them. There's a select few in particular.
I just don't know what to do anymore. Status updates are a great way to get a message out to a bunch of people without having to text them all, but then anyone can see it. I don't know. I'm just pissed about it. Mainly because I know of two people right now who'd probably kill someone to see a movie with me. One of them is annoying, the other is some chick that wants my junk. I want nothing to do with either of them right now.

Suggestion: Add them to a group then set it so that group can't see your status updates. But yeah, I kinda know what you mean. While I haven't had that problem before, I've definitely seen it happen a few times and it is definitely annoying.

ehh, I just usually text my friends.
They're the only people that would respond via facebook anyway, so i guess it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I'm very precise when I post things like that. I say things like "Josh is going to go see a movie with some friends" instead of "Josh wants to go see a movie with some friends". People close to me know that that is an open invitation to text me and come. Others just assume I have plans or something like that. EDIT: Oh and it helps that I remove any friend that I don't want seeing personal things and whatnot. For the most part, only close friends are on my Facebook.

If I said I was going to a movie, these people would ask to come with. What reason do I have for saying no other than not wanting to hang out with them? And one of the people is a close friend, but lately, he's been pissing me off to no end. Chris: I think they'd realize something is up if they can't see my status updates.

Chris: I think they'd realize something is up if they can't see my status updates. Maybe you just decided to no longer update your status? Huh? What now? Yeah, I know, long shot, but hey, anything can happen.

I don't even put anything like that in my status on Facebook. I just keep to things that, in general, mean nothing at all. "Trolling for the Troll God" is a good example of this.

is it really that hard to man up and tell your "friends" to ice their nips?

is it really that hard to man up and tell your "friends" to ice their nips? For me, yeah.
