So who here plays or has played or intends to play any tabletop RPG's? The most common is Dungeons & Dragons, but there are SO many others (you wouldn't believe it). Personally, I've just stuck with D&D. I started with 3.5E and I'm playing 4E now.
Currently, I'm looking to start up a group to play Deadlands Reloaded! It's basically a reissue of the classic Deadlands: Weird West. Savage Worlds (which based itself on the original Deadlands) put this out with their own take on it. So while it's mostly similar, a lot of the ties to the d20 system (and D&D in particular) are no longer present.
A friend of mine used to play Iron Kingdoms (steampunk D&D, essentially) and was into Shadowrun for awhile (a d6 system which I've always wanted to try). I don't know if he ever played it, but apparently the entire game revolved around roleplaying more than actual combat, which is cool.
So what about you guys? Are you into the pencil a paper games like these?

I know there is alot of ones out there that are base off it but never played any of them.

You'd be surprised how few games are actually based on D&D. D&D has had an influence, but most games try to avoid making something like D&D because they want to stand out on their own. So even though the paper and pencil aspect is the same, the actual game mechanics from game to game are very different.

I play a lot of D&D (3.5 mostly, most of my group doesn't like 4), Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying, Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader (This would be listed as Dark Heresy, but it plays so differently), and Star Wars Saga.

Only thing I've ever played was Munchkin.

How come they don't like 4E? There's things I like about both, but I'm curious what it is that you guys don't like. We come up with a vague plot, create characters, and then write introductions for our characters and then post off of those, interacting with the other characters.

D&D off and on for 4 years ish.
It's usually a once a week campaign that ends up going 5-10 weeks, then just kinda falls apart. And then eventually we'll start a separate one like a half year later.
So I play pretty rarely
