So, good news peoples. The Hobbit has been greenlit. -The Hobbit will be two 3D movies with a $500 million budget -The movies will be directed by Peter Jackson. It is rumored that James Cameron will produce and let Jackson use an updated version of the tech he created for Avatar. -Sir Ian McKellan (Gandalf) and Andy Serkis (Gollum) will return. -Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), and Hugo Weaving (Elrond) are all likely to have small cameos to promote continuity -Martin Freeman (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) has reportedly been cast to star as Bilbo -Filming is supposed to start in February, but it all depends on union problems in New Zealand. If they cannot be resolved by that time, the film may be shot in Eastern Europe instead. -WETA Digital will, of course, be doing the effects again -2012 release for the first film is likely -I am happy.

Eh admittedly, I was more excited when Del Toro's name was attached to the project. Oh well, should be an awesome movie anyway.
