So, does anyone here participate in hackathons at any point? The company I'm working for does one every 6 months or so, and it always produces interesting features. I know other large companies do them internally as well, such as Facebook. (That's where the like feature came from... a hackathon project.) Also, I'm not just talking internal hackathons. Also wondering about sponsored ones that are for public entrance too.

I participated in the Yahoo! Hack-U at UW in 2012. This was the first one I had been to since the focus was web app development.
Free food, free shirts, coding atmosphere. Pretty fun.

Was in a 48-hour one? Just curious. Sumo's so far are just 10-12 hour days on whatever you want to work on, for two days. Nothing insane, but still fun.

There was a 6 hour one and 24 hour one. 48 hours would kill me That's kinda the point. You spend all you've got, energy and mental ability-wise, and then marvel at the end result.

And the results of others who completely demolished yours. How big are the teams you work with?

And the results of others who completely demolished yours. How big are the teams you work with? For Sumo's hackathons, it's solo work typically. The other ones I've seen are up to teams of 4.
