I have never played it and by the time I learned enough to be interested in it, I figured Animal Crossing was more or less the same kind of satisfaction and I already have that game (with plans to get the new 3DS one this summer).

You should. Like I said, I have the regular DS one (haven't played in ages, sadly), but you should definitely pick up the upcoming one. I have a buddy back home that plans to play it online with me (assuming it has that capability). You should join us!
