I'm still not quite sure...when is this set in relation to the game? And will the story be closely related to the game? I wouldn't like it if they go off a completely different path with it.

2 years after and yes the storyline kinda continues straight after the metroite hit midgar, its amazing i have practically seen all 7+ trailers. >_> its really good. ^^

Well yeah, what Taz said. It happens two years after the events in VII. But now three new characters -- Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo (I think) -- who are trying to kill Cloud because he took something that they need for the "Reunion," which might involve resurrecting Jenova or something. Sephiroth also appears in a couple trailers, meaning that he's also still alive, unless it's a flashback (i.e. Cloud and Aeris).

There's also some disease running rampant...Geostigma, I think. Forgot how this all ties in, though. But I do remember that the scene where they all fight Bahamut in the city was badass.

Well I haven't read anything on the film, so

I heard this was coming out only for PSP. Like an exclusive movie...which makes me mad...I don't have a PSP and I don't plan on getting one. But this movie looks absolutely beautiful. And they couldn't have picked a better game to spin it off of. ^_^

It's not just for PSP, though.

I have high expectations for this... considering I've never played the game. SO filled me in on a lot of the plot, and gave me a link to a FAQ at GameFAQs with the plot, and analyzing every little detail...

Yeah, that FAQ actually refreshed my memory on the plot and gave me new insight on stuff I didn't understand. I'll have to read through all of it before the NA version releases on DVD...which'll hopefully be soon (it was changed to TBA, though).
