That's probably just an estimated release date. I haven't seen any other articles directly saying when it's gonna come out. I mean, that's not even an article, just the game data.
As much as I'd like for it to be released by summer, it'll probably be close to next year's holidays. Probably better that way, so things can be patched up to their ultimate awesomeness.

Yeah, by the time they patch everything up, the "real" game will only be during Halloween and Thanksgiving.

So far I haven't seen anything else confirming the 6/1/07 release date. I've heard rumors of it being out late '07...in Japan, which might mean early '08 for everyone else. Either way, doubtful it would come out so soon, but that's probably for the best.
