Since this board could use a little pick-me-up, I'm making another ideas thread because the old one had too much to wade through and no one wants to read that. It seems no one's playing games anymore since I don't see as many topics about games (I'll admit it, I don't have as much time to try out new stuff).
It's almost the end of the year...should I write a recap of what happened (maybe for the newsletter roflmaoz), or would that just be boring? I started writing one for last year but 2005 was lame compared to '06, at least for video games.
I could always go for more contests other than Name the Game. Maybe a screenshot caption contest? I don't know. I'm open for ideas. Speaking of Name the Game, I need ideas for prizes if anyone has any.
Anyway, hopefully this'll be a fresh start for an ideas topic.

Now a screenshot caption contest is a good idea. PSM does that every month, and they get tons of entries. Anyways, a nice recap of what happened this year would be nice. We did, after all, have several new games, systems, upgrades, hardware, etc, etc. A newsletter for all of that would be nice & long.

What's a Screenshot Caption Contest.
Also, I'm still pushing for reviews. I can review (some) games and I'm sure SO could review every other game on the planet.

Screenshot caption contest: I take a handful of screenshots from a video game, and the person who has the funniest captions for it wins my respect for a couple posts. And a prize. I did this at Hatake, and back then I actually took the screenshots myself with a camera...makes it more, uh...authentic.
Reviews could work, but we barely have anyone on this forum who plays games, and those that do have mixed tastes and might not agree on a single game that should be reviewed. We'd have to think about it.

I've been playing games since I knew what a computer was. I'll go ahead and write some more in-depth reviews. That one for Legend was just a basic review, not a full find-all-the-good-and-bad-stuff-and-rate-it review.

Caption Contest wins.
And we don't need to agree on reviews. Just write some, allow requests, and get to them as time permits.

Yeah, I'll do a caption contest. You guys care what game?
Anyway, any ideas for rewards for Name the Game? I can't come up with anything besides...uh...award sigs? I dunno. We could go for reviews if we ever do a newsletter, I guess.

We could go for reviews if we ever do a newsletter, I guess. Well, do a variety of games. I don't particularily care. For prizes...I don't know. Sigs could work. Honestly, prizes aren't a huge deal. I don't think so, anyway. I've been playing because it's fun, not for a prize.

Well yeah, but that's probably why you're doing so well. Other people might get bored and want rewards instead of just doing it for kicks.
Once I get the caption contest up, I'll probably start linking to here from my sig for people to get involved.

Reviews sound like a good idea. I could do some here and there from games i have played and what not. Just need to get some more people involved.

Reviews are definitely a good idea, but they have to spark interest for people to read them too, and not just to be up there with three views.
But yeah, if we get enough we could organize something related to game reviews.
