Well... at least it's still only $500 and not hacked up to a huge amount. Oh, and they keep saying the game size is huge in the comments. I take it that means that a lot of the hard drive will be taken up? And I wonder if they managed a multiplayer system in the game.

Kojima keeps bragging over how much space the game takes up and how they barely managed to fit it on a blu-ray disc, but I honestly think he just got lazy with compression just so he could make some hype like this. It should still be amazing, though. As for multiplayer, I'm pretty sure Metal Gear Online is gonna carry over from Subsistence. I don't think there's any non-online MP though.

Was MGO (I made an abbreviation! Yay me!) free? If so, I don't see how it really could be an issue that it's online-only MP unless a person has dialup.

Yeah, MGO's free. At least, I'd be shocked if it wasn't since the bulk of PS3's online is free also. And some people may not have Wi-Fi and don't want to move their modem, but other than that, yeah, playing online shouldn't be an issue. Konami's also releasing MGS: The Essential Collection, which is MGS1, 2 (Substance) and 3 (Subsistence) in one package, which I guess is nice if you haven't played the games and want to catch up for 4.

Is that collection for PS2 or only PS3? Because I'd be interested in getting it. (I could borrow them from my friend, but that's too much work.)

I think they left out the extra VR missions in Substance and Metal Gear 1 and 2 in Subsistence, but unless you're some rabid collector that shouldn't bother you too much.

I wouldn't have known the difference if you hadn't said anything.
