I think there's some secret Sony representative living outside my house and tries to keep breaking my crap so I can buy more of Sony's crap. Well when I find him, I'm going to take my PS2, all my other systems, a rock, another rock, and some other heavy objects and give out a serious beatdown, followed by some form of public humiliation. Can you believe my PS2 is breaking down, again? This is like the fifth goddamn time. I've actually lost count. I really don't know if this is my fourth or fifth PS2. But I should just be glad I still have a warranty. No, I don't hate my systems, and no, I don't bodyslam them on a regular basis. The PS2 just keeps breaking on me. A slimline, no less, which is supposed to be much more durable than the old model. I think I've noticed neglect is part of the problem. There was a weird whirring/clicking noise and the disc wouldn't load, so I cleaned all the dust in the immediate area (with a wet paper towel, not a duster), and then cleaned the lens with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. Lo and behold, it worked. It still fails to read the disc and starts whirring and clicking every now and then, but it works (generally). On the other hand, my GameCube's been good to me, and has always had dust around it, but it's a warrior, and is still chuggin' along. So I don't know. The problem is that the PS2 is on its last leg I think. But I'm gonna keep trying to keep it clean and dust free and see where that takes me. Is there anything else I could do to maintain it that won't violate a warranty? Best Buy's getting suspicious that I keep exchanging a PS2 on an annual basis.

Have you used a can of compressed air to remove the dust? That's a lot more powerful and effective actually. And yeah, seriously, I think it's where you have it. Keep it out in an open area or something.

My PS2 is still not broken.. Go with a bunch of huge rocks and put them over the SONY Public Relations Officer's head. Then they will know the real meaning of a burden..

I thought the slims were much more likely to break...
could be wrong, just what I seem to remember hearing.

Compressed air? That's actually a good idea. Where would you buy something like that? And it is in a fairly open area, I'll take pics later. Richard, if you have the old style PS2 consider yourself lucky.
And tcm, the slimlines are more durable. You might be thinking of the very first slimlines, which overheated pretty quickly and fried the system, which caused a recall (dammit Sony).

I think at any Walmart/K-mart/Target or probably Best Buy. Just check their websites.

You can buy it almost anywhere they sell keyboards.
I've got one of the first slimlines, and it's starting to wear out. When it goes, I probably won't buy another one. I've got a PS3, but my days of gaming are over.

You're never too old to game. Plus, don't you have younger siblings who might play them?

Meh, I just feel super un-productive when I play, and would rather explore photoshop to better my skills.
And Yeah, I've got ten younger siblings that play video games quite a bit. Except for my youngest brother, he would rather come up stairs and ride his bike on the computrainer with me.
