I don't think I've encountered any one thing that is so evil as this. It's as though the ebay devs collectively figured out what all the worst things in the world are, and then combined them into one ultimate being.

Oh? And what makes it so bad? How enormous it is, and how standardized everything is. Attributes for categories don't have names, but id's. And you have to pull and cache pretty much all the information instead of doing dynamic pulls. The lack of documentation for PHP also sucks pretty bad. They have a general developer's guide, but there are some things that you have to do specifically in PHP that they don't go over anywhere.
