It's kind of annoying when a link is posted and it replaces the link with
My suggestion is to do similar, except rather than
for everything, have it show the extension after the last '/'
So for example this link of mine:

stinky666.deviantart.com/art/RvS-Collab-C4D-Pack-115735663
Instead of that changing to stinky666.deviantart.com/art/RvS-Collab-C4D-Pack-115735663 like so, it would change to RvS-Collab-C4D-Pack-115735663

And obviously if it was something like link.com/PSDs.rar the link would show as PSDs.rar

I second this. Sounds like a good idea, it shortens links and we still know what it's all about.

But no more Rick Rolling. :'(

I third it though. Gives you an idea of what you're clicking.

It's difficult to do that in all cases though. However, I should be able to do something like that at least for deviantArt links. Also, what's wrong with using the status bar to see what the link is? :P

I do use the status bar usually, but I guess it's just one of those anoying things having to rollover a link.

You have to rollover it to click the link anyway... and how is it any different then them using a random image that has nothing to do with the link? :P

Ok I'm confused (FU Chris, no comments :P)..
That to me isn't an image...... it's a link....

... or am I completely blind and it is an image?

I meant like some uses =P You still have to hover to view it anyway.

Yeah which, with that it's fine. Though most people put in descriptions what site it's hosted on etc. So you don't need to check.
