This thread is for anyone wanting to give a rant on a book you've read lately. If it contains spoilers for the book, please make sure you make that clear after including the title and author's name so we are pre-warned.

Right now my first suggestion would be any Janet Evanovich novels. Especially her Stephanie Plum series. They're great.

I just read Of Mice and Men by George Steinbeck and that was pure awesomeness. Currently, I'm reading The Silmarrillion by J.R.R. Tolkein. Planning on reading the rest of the Middle Earth history books as soon as I am done.

Great suggestions from what I've read up on them. Maybe I'll see about snatching the books from someone.

If anyone is interested in alternate history, this being where an author takes a point in history and says what if this happend instead, you will love Harry Turtledove's series Worldwar. It starts in 1942 during WW2 when a conquest fleet from alies arrives at Earth with intentions to subdue its people and bring it into its control. I know it sounds kinda stupid but it is very well writin and is a good story regardless.

The Giver - Lois Lowry
One of my favorite books. I first read it when I was in the fourth grade, then again for an advanced literature class in seventh grade. It was the first book that sparked my interest in the question, "Why?" A must read for anyone with a brain and questioning mentality. Still ranks in my top novels of all time.

Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card
Set in the future where humanity has been at war with an alien race for years now. A young boy is chosen to lead Earth in this fight against them. Through mind altering training Ender finds out what it means to be a man. The first book in the trilogy is great, the other two are kinda off the beaten path. Read the first and if you like it try the other two.

Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
Imagine a world where novels are contraband and the act of owning or reading them is punishable by death, that is the premise to this novel. Really good book.

1984 - George Orwell
Another Sci-Fi from my library that I revisit once or twice a year. Amazing novel about a socialistic government now rules and about a man who seeks what it means to find truth. Great read.

EarthSea Trilogy - Ursula K. Le Guin
My favorite trilogy of all time. To all you Harry Potter fans out there you know nothing of what true sorcery and what it is to be a mage. This trilogy (and later was made into a quartet) is the canon of all fantasy. I wish every HP fan-boy could read this trilogy to put that God awful author in her place. Long live EarthSea!

The Odyssey - Homer
One of the first epic poems written in recorded history. If you've not read it you should be ashamed. Drop everything you are doing and go read it now, your life is not complete.

The Symposium - Plato
Book that entails what perfect Love should be, in fact one of my favorite quotes come from this work. "Not every type of loving and Love is right and deserves to be praised, but only the type that motivates us to love rightly." Pausanius tells a funny story about how and why we are on a constant search to find our other half. A really really short read with some truths about life and Love that most need to learn of.

Brave New World - Aldous Huxley
A perfect society, a utopia, inhabited super intelligent people. Society has reached this point by eliminating war, disease and the like, but in doing so has also denied it's people some of the simple pleasures in life. Humans are created not born. The society's relegates past is revisited when, John the "savage" is discovered. Great read.

Odd Thomas - Dean Koontz
Thriller novel, with a killer ending that preludes his next two books in the series Forever Odd and Brother Odd. Thomas is able to see the dead, really great novel by one of my favorite authors.

Republic - Plato
Compilation of 10 books written by one of western philosophy's greatest thinkers, The Republic asks the question, "What is justice?" Also in the book he goes over political philosophies as well as his what Plato considers the four cardinal virtues. Wisdom, Courage, Moderation and Justice. Awesome though somewhat long read.

I'm starting this revolution: This is my sandbox, y'all just dig'n.

Wow, I am reading the Cloudmage trilogy, and I recommend it if you love fantasy books. I have read the first 2, 600 page books, in a week and I am finding it hard to put it down.

This author who is S. L. Farrell, has a very new and interesting way to use magic. One I have never seen before and I enjoy it.

I have to say I admire Phillip Pullman's Northern Lights trilogy: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.

I have just finished ttyl & I am reading ttfn. The author is Lauren myracle. Both + l8ter g8ter which is the third book is all in text messaging.

I'd also recommend the Warriors series, all three actually. I'd start off with the first book of the first series which is Into the Forest. All the books are by Erin Hunter.
