Sorry, but what the fuck?! That's absolutely ridiculous! I don't even live in New Zealand and I'm outraged. To think that any civilized government would allow such an abomination in something as important as final exams is absurd. I think it should be up to the teachers, and what intelligent teaching adult would agree to such idiocy in their classroom?

I can't see this lasting for more than a year. After one set of final exams, they're sure to reverse their decision.

i can see it now... the teachers punching wholes in calls cause they can't udnerstand what the students are tlaking about. ITs a dream.

I would take advantage of that by spending an extra half hour making it as undecipherable as humanly possible. If schools want to mutilate the English language like that, I'd make damn sure they couldn't read my paper.

ITs so stupid if you think about it. They get pissed everywhere else is you write anything close to txt speak. Its changing the english language to incorperate the lazy people version.
