Vista's cheaper than I thought... I thought Vista was like $600... o.O But yeah that is a bit overboard in price for CS3. I really do wonder why they charge so damn much for the Photoshop software. =/

If you want to go into professional design (like myself, I want to double major in Digital Cinema (3D Animation) and Web Design), it is well worth the $650 to be using the best out there and the industry standard.

Alternatively, you could get an older version. Don't go older than CS though, then you are losing much of your support and downloads.

It won't drop quick enough or for enough money for quite a while though... not until near CS4's release. =/

I dont understand Adobe - their software packages are undoubtedly the best-selling in each of the respective categories. Why the hell make CS3 so expensive when theres already ppl out there who've created hacks and keygens to activate pirated versions - Why not just make it cheaper and ppl WILL actually opt for the genuine editions cos Photoshop is <3

You see, people already buy the software. It is worth it to those who are in the fields that use it or are going to be. I legally own v6-CS3 (I own the entire CS3 suite, for that matter) and I can say that it is worth every dime being up to date and being able to excel.

And when you have 500 (just throwing a number out there) people working on a program, it is going to be expensive. Think about it this way. We'll say there is only 100 people for the sake of simplicity. At 10 an hour, 40 hours a week, 48 weeks a year (vacation and sick time is being assumed unpaid and whatever), you are paying out $19,000 per person. $1,900,000 total. That is if the program only takes a year to make and they are cheap bastards. Not to mention benefits and stuff like that. Photoshop is one of the biggest programs on the planet and there are loads of people working on it. It costs money to make it and you have to make that money back to get some kind of profit.

Josh, Adobe programmers are gonna make a hell of a lot more than that.... $19k a year? I see a minimum of $50k.
