So I recently met this girl who is beautiful as hell, but she smokes and drinks. I'm a straight-edge person when it comes to drugs and alcohol. Never touched it and never plan on touching it.
Things are getting to where dating her is a possibility, and to be honest I'm not all that grossed out by her smoking/drinking. I mean she's doing her, so what. As long as she doesn't do it around me we are good, thats the one rule.
Should I go for it and have any of you dated a smoker? Is smoking an instant turn off for you? I originally thought it was for me too until I met her. :/

One thing that I've found when I held standards like yours is that eventually they become unrealistic. It's almost impossible to find people that don't smoke or drink. Of course it's not like you can't, but you're gonna be lonely while you wait to find someone. I'd say give it a shot. If it really is that big of a deal, you can break up later. You might find that it isn't a big deal though, and this girl might be a good match for you.

I could probably deal with someone who drinks on occasion (those of you who know me know that I have major issues with drinking), but the smoking is a no. It could be someone that looks like Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, and freaking Alison Angel (softcore pornstar, so don't search her name with someone in the room.  ) combined, but if she smoked, wouldn't have anything to do with her.

Having been the smoker in a relationship, I've been on the receiving end of the "don't do it round me", I left her. Smokers are a strange thing, they don't like being told where and where not to smoke. I dunno. That's how it is here anyways. Eric: I found one of those girls. No smoking, teetotal types. The most dull person on the planet. I could've buried her in the back yard on more than 22 occasions. It's strange though, sometimes I wonder how I'm coping without her.

Smokers are a strange thing, they don't like being told where and where not to smoke.. Yup. Which is why the smoking bans happening here in Michigan are going over so well with the smoking minority. Personally, though, I love the ban and cannot wait for it to go into full effect. lol

As a smoker (you may find what I'm going to say surprising), I fully agree with the ban. Why should you breath in my smoke, or be forced to work in a place full of it. I do think it's gone way too far though. Which is why I completely ignore our ban in the UK, if there are no nonsmokers around. I smoked at work, in my office, work vehicles.

Business owners have a right to ban it within their own establishment if they feel it necessary. Government has no place telling them. Just sayin'.
As for your question, like Eric said, go for it. It's hard to find someone of your standards. It can be done, but don't wait for Ms. Perfect all the time. Give it a shot. Drinking can be annoying, but I'm not totally against it. As for smoking, personally, I find it incredibly attractive and a major turn on. Don't ask me why. I just do. I used to smoke, so maybe that's why.

Yeah, I forgot to mention it's a nationwide ban under law here in the UK.

I have smoked and drank in the past. And I'd still drink but only here and there. The current girlfriend I have smoked for longer than a year. The only thing I found wrong with it was the smell and that her health was not great because she smoked too much. I recently talked her into quitting.

I've been smoke free since I started hormones. (I've lost track of how long it's been)
Do I miss it? Not really. Does my girlfriend miss it, not really, but she also smokes. I'm hoping to get her to quit soon. She's got a great body and loves to work out, but isn't going to be able to keep it if she keeps smoking like she does.

Yeah, tell you to do that don't they. I take Estradiol Valerate 1mg/day, and still sport a 40/day habit.

Drinking is fine with me. Hell, I drink on occasion. However, I find smoking kind of disgusting, and I don't think I could date a smoker even if I wanted to. I'd rather not die from an asthma attack xD
