Anime, you learn Japanese then (in theory).

Well you learn Japanese from watching Anime while awake so why not have fun while learning? ;)

Well you can always remove the #1 as well as the glare and the other text if you want to. I made the PSD so it would be fully customizable to the user's liking :)

Thank you.

Yeah you always want to have your text readable so you should use a different contrast and a different color for your text. White text is best on dark backgrounds and black text on light backgrounds.

Your new designs looks pretty good to me. I'd want to decrease the width on the dark lines in the cat windows. (You know what I mean?)

You're right; it is unique!

I really like this, because it looks somewhat intricate, yet simple. The outline is a little off on the right, but that's not a major thing. Can I ask; did you use a bevel on the dark parts?

It wouldn't look out of place in a sort of 1v1 punch 'em up kinda game UI. Can you animate it?

I'm begining to like your style, keep it up!

Thanks man. No I haven't beveled anything. It is all a style.

And I might be able to animate it some time ;)

Some of the edges on the "tech stuff" to the left seem a bit fuzzy, and the red tubular thing seems like it took a backseat to everything else. It doesn't quite pop. Also, I'm not sure the sleek, glossy blue quite fits with the very detailed "tech stuff". Maybe make it a bit more...metallic? Or tone down the details in the tech parts. Also, the text just doesn't fit. It seems like it was kind of slapped on there after all is said in done (which is technically true, I'm sure, but don't let it show). That's especially true of the #1.

But, as usual, I find great designs like yours and I pick them apart mercilessly. Overall, it's VERY good. It just seems like you wanted to do two different things (both of which are well done) and stuck them together. Try leaning one way or the other more. And then parts of it are just a tad sloppy (like the text, edges, and red tube). Don't let it get ya down. It's a great design and you have a lot of talent. Just look for what I mentioned and keep them in mind for next time. :)

Edit: Props for the scanlines. They were so trendy for like 2 years way back when and then everyone said, "Fuck scanlines," but I still like 'em. :D

Thanks man. You are absolutely right. I'll think about that the next time =D

I forgot all about this old classic of mine :D

Some time ago I decided to make my own style of userbar/sig. I also wanted others to be able to enjoy it as much as I do so I made it editable.

Read more and download the .psd at my DeviantArt.

Now it is the SOTW userbar given out to the winners at Cyberwarez ^^

Here is a preview.

Last I checked, you can't actually do that with compliant code for all browsers. Basically, you can do that for any browser that supports CSS3, but not every browser supports it, including IE, the most used browser. The way we do it here is that the images are actually rounded themselves. :P It's also the most efficient way to do it and the way I recommend.

Oh. That's too bad :(

Can you please tell me how to do it your way then?

I assume you have one image with rounded corners for the left side of the "cat" (is that what the bar is called?), one image with regular corners for the middle put on repeat and one image with rounded corners for the right side.

Can you please tell me how the code goes for that?

Hmm. A guy in school talked about it so I think it is possible. And It is possible to make boxes and eclipses and all those sorts of shapes with SVG coding but I haven't seen any example where they use images.

I have also seen some examples where they use CSS to round corners the way I want, well I haven't seen examples using IMAGES there either but I think that it should be similar to rounding corners on buttons. The problem there is only that I have really no idea of what code is causing the effect. I could not even get the code to work on boxes just copying/pasting the code directly from a tutorial :P The only thing I managed to do was to remove the sides of the box but why would I want to do that ???

And thanks for the re-rate :P

I'll post more 3D art when I get the time :D I am currently modeling a guitar which I hope to finish some time soon.

In my experience, it depends on what you're working for. Serifs go well with traditional works and work well in logos. I cite Google as the prime example. I know what you mean though.

Yes exceptions are if you want to archive this kind of effect.

But it is much preffered that you don't use it :P

It's called serif. :)

Thanks. I didn't know what it was called in English :D

When you shall choose fonts for your projects, ALWAYS think of this rule.

When something is going to be displayed on a computer screen, always use a font without "heels"

Use fonts like Arial, Verdana and Calibri for that. Using fonts with heels is a big no-no when displayed on a screen.

Fonts with heels are only to be used when printing out stuff on paper.

Trust me. I am in a Media/Design school and I have been scolded by my teacher a couple of times for this :P

Well I am trying to learn to make a skin for an InvisionFree forum and I am stuck on how to make rounded corners using code on my images.

Here's examples of what I mean.

Let's say that this is an actual image that I want to use.

I want to make it (with code) so that the edges are rounded a bit.

And if possible. I want to make it so that only the top corners gets rounded :-[

The reason that I want to do this is because I have my forum like this now (obviously not finished yet :P)

(sorry I don't know what the bar is called)

And I want to have it like this.

How I managed to do the bar design is that I have the image like you see it in the bar. Only that it is the displayed height but only one px wide and set on repeat all the way to the end of the board.

I have really searched for a code that rounds the edges the way I want it but I can't find any for rounding the corner of an image ???

Any help on the code? I am also open for tips on other ways to archive this effect.

Thanks.
- NJ

EDIT: It never occurred to me before but now that I think about it, Studio Zero did exactly what I wanted to do on my forum xD

Wow I feel stupid now lol. Still need help with the coding though.
